Neurosurgery Fundamental Skills Workshop

This course offers a modular hands-on training on Cranial trauma, Hydrocephalus and Biopsy, taking the participant through each step of the procedures from planning to cranial closure including shunt implant. The objective of the training is the acquisition of core technical skills in cranial neurosurgery in a stimulated environment with the support of enabling technologies. The course is designed around a procedure workflow in which each enabling instrumentation and technology is didactically introduced when relevant in the workflow. This course will also introduce the participants on how to use navigation throughout the procedural workflow. The course will comprise theoretical components to ensure a levelled knowledge base prior to the highly interactive and hands-on sections of the course.

Target audience:

Learning objectives:

By the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  • understand the basic anatomy in relation to the key aspects of the disease states trauma & hydrocephalus and the performance of a brain biopsy
  • confidently choose (knowledge) and use (technique) the adequate instruments for each step that mimic the clinical settings for each workflow
  • acquire basic understanding on navigated procedures and how to use it in the specific workflows

Accreditation:
